Scholarships for CICOPS 2023: The University of Pavia and EDiSU (Institute of the Right to University Studies) are offering 5 scholarships to visiting scholars for the year 2023, for a stay of 4 to 12 weeks at the University of Pavia, in order to encourage international cooperation, particularly with developing countries.
Scholarships from CICOPS: The CICOPS Technical-Scientific Committee established a scholarship project in 1996 with the goal of encouraging research collaboration between academics from developing countries and the University of Pavia. The scholarships were created for junior and senior members of universities in developing countries, as well as members of important research institutions and international organizations, who have a particular interest in development studies.
Since 1998, the University of Pavia and the Institute for University Studies (EDiSU) have awarded approximately ten scholarships each year for a four to ten week stay in Pavia, during which time the scholars conduct research with professors in the department that hosts them and frequently hold seminars.
Countries eligible: Gambia, Niger, Benin, Guinea, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Burundi, Somalia, South Sudan, Central African Republic, Liberia, Tanzania, Chad, Madagascar, Togo, Malawi, Uganda, Congo, Mali, Zimbabwe, Eritrea, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Kenya, Senegal, Cameroon, Congo, Lesotho, Swaziland, Côte d’Ivoire, Maurit
- Professors and researchers from developing countries who intend to conduct research with a professor at the University of Pavia are eligible for CICOPS Scholarships.
- Eligibility and Selection Criteria
- The scholarships were created for junior and senior members of developing-country institutions, as well as members of important research centers and international organizations with a focus on development studies.
- Applicants must have a minimum of two years of experience in either teaching or working for international organizations and institutions.
CICOPS scholarships are intended for short-term research collaboration (between 4 and 10 weeks) in order to foster the mobility of researchers from poor countries. They are not available for PhD studies or enrollment in a postgraduate course at an Italian university.

Scholarship value: Travel (economy class), board and accommodation expenses, and a weekly pocket money of 150.00 Euro (gross) are all included in the scholarship.
Scholarships are available for 4 to 12 weeks.
